Since first launching in 2010, the team behind local listings website HugoFox.com has worked hard to stay true to their mission of helping locals to ‘keep it local’, by supporting a number of charitable schemes and local initiatives in communities across the South, as well as sponsoring 24 youth and adult sports teams.
And it’s the company’s involvement with the latter that’s got clubs and their teams talking of late, with the website launching a competition for one of them to win £1000. Last week, founder Michael Thompson visited clubs across the South, encouraging them to sign up and list on the website to earn their club points for every post. The website features categories for cars, jobs, classifieds, events, charities, businesses and offers – and with many of these free to post, it really is a win-win opportunity for sports teams looking to earn some much needed funding.
Michael tells HugoFox News: “It really is a case of ‘sports for all’ at HugoFox.com, as we are keen to help our local teams to raise funds and encourage more support from their surrounding areas. We are focused on getting people online and networking within their communities, as our website strives to help people source whatever they need, right on
their doorstep – and since launching the site, we have seen its popularity increase as a way for businesses to list their services for free and employers to recruit within their local area. The current competition between our sponsored teams will not only give them the chance to earn some serious cash; it will also
encourage people to see just what events, services and goods are available within their village or town.”
HugoFox.com team member Victoria Poolman adds: “This really is an exciting opportunity for all our sponsored clubs – not only do they stand a chance of winning £1000, but every individual who posts on the site is automatically entered into a monthly draw to win an iPad2. What’s more, every team will see their points converted to cash which they can use to support their club, buy new kit and equipment – however they see fit. Lots of our teams are really racking their points up now and we can’t wait to see who comes first, and how they’ll benefit from their winnings!”
With the closing date of 18th March drawing near, teams are working hard to encourage their friends, affiliates, business links and families to use the site – registering with their club of choice to earn them points for every post. Many have posted appeals on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, some have involved their work colleagues and employers (with job vacancies netting a club a whopping 270 points per post) and the word is spreading far and wide. With all the clubs supporting the initiative and backing HugoFox.com, the race is on to net some serious funding… the question is, who’ll be first past the finish line…
