Laverstoke Park Farm

Two days, fifteen thousand spectators, a Radio Two DJ and a former Formula One World Champion. It’s no wonder everyone’s getting revved- up about CarFest 2012 in aid of Children in Need.

Speed, adrenaline, super-charged engines, obsessive visitors: Get set for a fantastic Car Fest!

A rumbling’s been heard in idyllic, rural Hampshire. Something’s coming, and it’s going to be massive.

HugoFox.com registered business Laverstoke Park Farm, is gearing up to open its doors to car enthusiasts and music fans for the August Bank Holiday weekend (25th and 26th). It’s a collaboration between self-confessed ‘petrol head’ Radio Two Breakfast DJ Chris Evans and former Formula One World Champion- turned organic farmer- Jody Sheckter who now owns and runs Laverstoke on the outskirts of Basingstoke.

It’s a dream come true for Chris Evans who’s been planning the event and sharing his dream with his radio listeners over the past few months. The cars will be the

main focus and he’s planning a hill climb over the two day event which will see them ascend in groups of ‘Magnificent Sevens’. Chris is expected to lead the charge in one of his own Ferraris, hotly pursued by Supercars from across Europe and the USA that will roar up the hill. One of the highlights will be an appearance by the Marussia F1 team that’ll be carrying out a sprint demo to really rev-up the crowd.

A car auction nicknamed ‘The Pride and Joy Sale’ is expected to bring enthusiasts in from all corners. There will be hundreds of cars on display across the weekend and it’s a rare chance to see some spectacular vehicles from private collections. It’s hoped everyone will spend time walking around the site and see the gleaming bonnets of historic F1s, rally cars and many, many vintage and classic cars.

The aim is to keep it as much a family festival as possible and there will be plenty to keep the kids entertained. Face-painting, craft activities and even traditional sports day races will be taking place. Fancy trying your hand with an egg and spoon?! There’s also going to be food in abundance, thanks to Laverstoke Park and other local producers who’ll be cooking (and brewing!) up a storm. Demonstrations will also be taking place, courtesy of car-lover and TV chef James Martin. You can take part in workshops to learn how to make bread, ice-cream and butter. The site’s going to be full to bursting with artisan stalls, ensuring that there really is something for everyone.

The cars may be getting top billing but there’s a whole host of other entertainment throughout the weekend. Crowds will be able to watch air displays and even the Dancing Diggers!  Each day will end with an evening concert. As the summer sun begins to set, the crowds will be able to enjoy soft rock and chilled-out entertainment. Acts already lined-up to perform include Texas, The Feeling and Razorlight.

Chris announced on his breakfast show that tickets for the event would go on sale on the 18th April at 8am from See Tickets. A minimum of a third of the ticket price will go to BBC Children in Need. Visitors will be able to choose whether or not to camp overnight and stay for the duration, or make it a day trip.

There’s plenty of information already at http://www.carfest.org/Content/Welcome/9/ but keep checking for updates on tickets and availability.

The HugoFox New team are already eyeing up the best camping plots so you’d better move fast once tickets are on sale! It’s gearing up to be THE summer event of the year, aiming to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for Children In Need. There’s even a rumour that Pudsey Bear will be allowed behind the wheel. Keep checking the website for more information to avoid missing this car-tastic event deep in the Hampshire countryside.

To quote John Paul Young, ‘Love is in the air, everywhere I look around’. Yes, this one’s for all the lovers out there who are wondering how to mark Valentine’s Day (and with less than 24 hours to go). This year, instead of picking up a sad bunch of carnations from the petrol station as you fill up on the way home, why not let the HugoFox News team help you do it with a little more panache? Just remember ‘Be Mine’ and you’ll…be fine!
