It’s been a good year for British triathletes! First we saw the success of the Brownlee brothers taking Gold and Bronze in the Olympic Men’s Triathlon, and now HugoFox News is delighted to be congratulating ten-year-old triathlete Ethan Fincham on his victory in the South East Junior Triathlon Series. The sporty schoolboy came in top position in the competition having accumulated a perfect score of 30,000 points, despite missing the final race due to an injury.
Competing in the ‘Tristar 1’ group for boys aged 9-10, Ethan stormed through the first three events of the Series, finishing first in the first two races and second in the third. All seemed set for another triumphant result at the final event, the ‘Trinity Tri’ in Croydon… But, alas, that was not to be! Unfortunately, Ethan then sustained a fractured collarbone while representing his school at the Regional School Rugby Finals in Reigate (he’s one sporty chap, that’s for sure!). This led to Ethan being unable to train for over a month, and meant that he sadly had to miss the last Series event in July.
However, the HugoFox team is happy to learn that Ethan’s previous fantastic results mean that he still nabbed the top spot in the Series – an outcome that testifies to Ethan’s dedication and hard work throughout the season. This young star is not to be stopped by something so paltry as a fracture!
Ethan is now recovered and back in training, getting ready for his next race. It’s uphill work after such a long break, but Ethan is determined to be back in shape for the 14th October when he will compete in the Crowborough Aquathlon, defending the title he won at the event last year. From the commitment that Ethan has shown so far, we have no doubt that this budding sportsman will achieve his goal!
