President of the Basingstoke & District Football League, Mr Peter Raynbird presents the League Division One Trophy to Tron FC Player Manager Darren Hutchins at St Marys Hall, Overton
Huge congratulations go out to Tron FC, who have are now the proud winners of the Hampshire Junior ‘A’ Cup!
With match finals recently taking place at Winklebury Football Complex in Basingstoke (The Head Quarters of The Hampshire FA), the team brought it home 1 – 0 versus competitors at FC Wellington.
Club Secretary Darren Hutchins told HugoFox News: “This is the highest honour that can be won by a men’s football side within Hampshire, so it was huge achievement for a club from a small village like Overton to win it.”
Tron FC knocked out the holders of the cup in the first round and then the champions of the Basingstoke Premier League, Champions of The Isle Of Wight League, Champions of The Bournemouth League and Champions of The Southampton League on their way to the final.
This would be an impressive feat for any club, but for the Tron players, the result is even more incredible – as Darren adds: “The club has gone from strength to strength since forming in 2009 and have worked miracles considering that the club is pretty much self-funded by the players. Some of the clubs we compete against have huge financial backers and investors and far better facilities and equipment than us; but we have a great spirit and hard work ethic and the players and management have worked so hard to achieve the greatest possible success this season.”
Tron FC have now been promoted into the Basingstoke Premier Division. A much harder league; and look forward to next season! From Michael and all the HugoFox.com team, huge congratulations!
