Are you ready to party on 2nd-5th June? If not, HugoFox’s Events listings can help you out!

The central weekend of the Diamond Jubilee is only a few weeks away, and excitement is mounting as people all over the UK plan how they are going to celebrate 60 years of the Queen’s reign. But don’t worry if you haven’t decided yet – there’s still plenty of time to find an event happening near you, or even to arrange your own jubilee bash!

If you’re looking for a party to attend or for some inspiration, is the perfect place to find it. Our Events pages are swiftly filling up with great Jubilee affairs, from fetes to concerts to good ole’ British tea parties. HugoFox News takes you through a selection of the many treats available…

Early Jubilation

Fancy an early fair? The Inkpen Diamond Jubilee Fair  in Hungerford, Berkshire will be taking place on Sunday 20th May. Inkpen Primary School will be sprucing up their annual Spring Fayre with a Diamond Jubilee theme, and from 12-2pm there will be a BBQ, royal garden party, maypole dancing, and a grand raffle, amongst a range of other traditional stalls.

The Run-Up

Just because the central weekend won’t quite have arrived, there’s no reason that you can’t have some fun in the week preceding it! Winchester, Hampshire, is an especially good place to be while you wait for the Bank Holidays to come. Their Best of British festival kicks off on Friday 25th May with fantastic events such as a bunting workshop at the Discovery Centre and a Jubilation Display at the Guildhall. The latter is sure to be a fascinating exhibition, featuring objects, souvenirs, and photographs showing how the people of Winchester commemorated the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897 – how different were their celebrations from ours, we wonder?

Celebrate 60 years of the Queen’s reign by scoffing scones- sorry, I mean *nibbling daintily* on scones at Basildon Park’s ‘Royal Tea’, one of the many events being held across the South on the Jubilee’s central weekend.

And if you’re a Guernsey resident, you’re in for a particular treat, for the town of St Peter Port will be alive with the sound of music throughout the month of May as a series of concerts are to be held to celebrate the Jubilee. Music lovers should think about booking a seat for the spectacular outdoor concert on Sunday 27th May, a stylish ‘proms in the park’ event that will feature the beautiful vocals of Hayley Westenra.(Update: We have just received news that, unfortunately, the concert has been postponed. But never fear! HugoFox News will let you know the details when it is rescheduled.)

The Central Weekend

The Jubilee’s central weekend of 2nd-5th June will be jam-packed (like the best British scones) with marvellous events taking place all over the country.’s listings already feature the Ashtree Road Street Party, the East Woodhay/Woolton Hill Jubilee Celebration, the Horley Jubilee Fun Day, and the Ashford Hill and Headley Big Lunch (see our article here)… and that’s only the tip of the iceberg (or should we say, the icing on the cake?)!

Other choice events include A Right Royal Week at Corfe Castle, Dorest, where from 2nd to 10th June the castle will be exploring its royal connections in a week of activities. On Monday 4th June, the castle will also host the village’s Jubilee fair.

Calling all swingers! Get your Jubilee groove on at Aldershot’s Victoria Day.

Moreover, on Saturday 2nd June Aldershot town centre will be transported back in time as the town’s annual Victoria Day takes on a 1950s theme in celebration of Elizabeth II’s coronation on 2nd June 1953. The day will feature a grand parade, live music, children’s fair rides, and a classic car show – and what 50s extravaganza would be complete without fancy dress? The organisers encourage attendees to get styling those quiffs and pulling on those bobbie socks, ready to rock ‘n’ roll! Will you be Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra, Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Munroe?

If you’d prefer a more tranquil atmosphere, Basildon Park in Berkshire is holding a number of events over the central weekend, including a sophisticated Royal Tea in the afternoon of Tuesday 5th June. Celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in style by enjoying a regal menu of sandwiches, scones, and cake in a beautiful country house setting… Bliss!
